How Erigo collects, uses, and protects your personal data. We believe in transparency and minimal data collection.

Legal basis and how we use your data

Data we collect

We only collect the data required to deliver our service effectively and securely.

  • Account details: Name, email address, password
  • Membership data: Erigo Plus subscription status, billed through our payment provider (we never store card numbers)
  • Learning data: Articles read, courses completed, quiz results, badges earned
  • ELSA usage: Questions asked and monthly usage count
  • Technical data: Browser, device, and log data needed to keep the service secure

Purpose of processing

We process your personal data to:

  • Provide and maintain your membership and account
  • Track your progress and issue verifiable badges
  • Provide AI-assisted learning support through ELSA
  • Handle billing for Erigo Plus
  • Improve our product and member experience
  • Meet legal obligations, for example bookkeeping rules

We process personal data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Contractual necessity: To fulfil our obligations under your membership and account
  • Consent: For marketing communication (you can withdraw consent at any time)
  • Legal obligation: To comply with applicable laws and regulations
  • Legitimate interest: To improve our services, ensure security, and communicate with members

AI assistant (ELSA)

ELSA is our AI learning assistant. The following applies when you interact with her:

“You control your data. Conversations with ELSA are saved to your account so you can return to them, and you can delete any conversation whenever you want. We never use your interactions to train AI models.”
  • ELSA processes your questions and course context to give relevant answers
  • ELSA only reaches the courses and resources your account already has access to
  • Your conversations are only visible to you and can be deleted at any time
  • No personal data from ELSA conversations is shared with third parties
  • ELSA always clearly identifies herself as an AI assistant
  • You can request human support at any time

Learning and badge data

While you use Erigo we track learning data to follow your progress and recommend relevant content:

  • Progress data: modules completed, time spent, quiz results
  • Completion records: digital badges and completion dates

When you earn a digital badge (Open Badge 3.0), your name, the achievement, the issue date, and a verification URL are embedded in the badge. Badges are designed to be portable and shareable, you decide where and how to share them.

Data sharing

We may share data with:

  • Service providers: IT operations and payment processing, all EU-based or with adequate safeguards
  • Your organisation: if you belong to an Erigo for organisations account, your admin may see aggregate progress and badge data
  • Authorities: when required by law

Storage and security

  • Data is only stored for as long as required for its purpose, or as required by law
  • All servers are located within the EU
  • Data is encrypted at rest and in transit (TLS 1.3)
  • Infrastructure runs on 100% renewable energy
  • Regular security reviews and penetration testing
  • Access controls and audit logging for all personal data

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data
  • Export your data

If you believe we have processed your data incorrectly, you can file a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), the Swedish data protection authority.
